Buckingham Palace has indirectly taken a dig at Meghan Markle with an “epic” ad on social media after her latest project.

Just days after the Duchess of Sussex introduced her new strawberry jam, Buckingham Palace’s official store released an ad for its own strawberry preserves.

The former Suits star tapped her high-profile friends to share photos of pots of American Riviera Orchard (ARO) jam placed in bowls of lemons.

On Wednesday, in a video shared with its Instagram followers, the official account of the Buckingham Palace shop posted an ad for its own strawberry preserves.

The Instagram reel suggests four British ways to enjoy a product made using British berries.

In the post, Palace suggests customers can enjoy their jam: “On a scone as part of a cream tea. On a crumpet. With a croissant. On toast.”

The post drew huge reactions from the royals and Meghan’s fans, some of whom praised the palace’s social media team. One wrote: “Wait! Did the Palace subtly troll Ms Montecito?”

Another took a dig at Meghan’s ARO jam jars, commenting: “I see you stuck your labels on.”

Similarly, someone posted: “Buckingham Palace on Montecito any day,” before writing: “Epic shade!”

However, some fans of Harry and Meghan came to the duchess’s defense, with one saying: “I’d rather enjoy the Duchess of Sussex’s jam before you attack her in a big way. You show your true colors. I’m the royal family.” “And I won’t do that anymore.”

Another commented: “Too harsh, low blow, this was completely immature and unnecessary. I thought Buckingham Palace was supposed to display class and grace. Don’t think that.”

One asked: “Does the royal family hate Harry, Meghan and their kids so much that they don’t want them earning extra income for themselves?”
