New Delhi:
BRS leader K Kavitha was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate from her home in Hyderabad last night in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case and was taken to the agency’s headquarters in the national capital around midnight. The agency shifted her to Delhi for further interrogation.
After arriving in the city, she was taken to the agency’s offices, where she underwent medical examinations.
The agency will bring the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to the Rouse Avenue court at 10.30 am today seeking her remand.
Ms Kavita’s brother and former Telangana minister KT Rama Rao responded to her arrest in a post on The practice of grudges has become increasingly common in the BJP government. The ED needs March 19, the case is yet to be formally heard and will need to be reviewed in a few days, so that he can make a decision to the Supreme Court over the undue haste of arrests. Reply. Even more egregious is the fact that the ED broke its own promise to the Department of Justice. Dear Supreme Court. Justice will prevail and we will continue to fight legally.”
Abuse of power and abuse of the system to settle political grievances has become increasingly common among the BJP governments over the past decade
The ED needs to respond to the Supreme Court on the issue of undue haste in making the arrest while the matter is yet to be heard and awaiting review.

The financial probe agency on Friday made a dramatic arrest of K Kavitha and carried out an hours-long raid at her residence in Hyderabad, taking her into custody in a money laundering case related to the now-defunct Delhi excise tax policy .
Ms. Kavitha was arrested from her home in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, in the afternoon.
The arrests were made weeks ahead of the Lok Sabha polls and on the day the Congress government completes 100 days in office in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a massive road show in Malkajigiri, a suburb of Hyderabad.
The Supreme Court has granted the BRS leader immunity from interrogation until Wednesday and on Friday heard her petition against the agency issuing a subpoena in the case. The next hearing will be held on Tuesday.
