British maritime security company Ambrey said on Saturday it had received information that a ship 61 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah, Yemen, had been attacked.

Separately, the UK Maritime Trade Organization (UKMTO) said it had received a report of an incident in which the captain of a ship at almost the same location reported that two missiles were in the vicinity of the ship, but that no damage was caused.

It is unclear whether Ambrey and UKMTO reported the same incident, as they did not name any vessels in their updates.

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis have for months launched attacks on shipping in the Red Sea region in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza war.

One of the missiles mentioned in the UK Maritime Trade advisory was intercepted by coalition forces protecting commercial shipping in the region. The second hit the water some distance from the vessel, it added.

UKMTO said the vessel sustained no damage and the crew were safe.

Months of Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have disrupted global shipping, forcing companies to reroute longer, more expensive journeys in southern Africa and raising fears that the Israel-Hamas war could spread and destabilize the entire Middle East. Worry.

In response to the shipping attacks, the United States and Britain carried out strikes against Houthi targets.
