Shweta’s mother, Kamlesh, was arrested after she reported a robbery incident at her home to the police.

Kamlesh told the police in her complaint that gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 1 lakh and cash of Rs 25,000 were stolen from her when she left her home between 2 pm and 2:30 pm on January 30.

During the investigation, police found no signs of forced entry into the home as all locks on the main door and cabinets were intact.

According to reports, while police were reviewing video footage from CCTV cameras installed in the area, they spotted a woman wearing a burqa entering the home suspiciously.

Delhi Police’s technical investigation led to Kamlesh’s eldest daughter Shweta, who had moved out of the home a few days ago.

During interrogation, Shweta told police that she planned the robbery because her mother loved her sister more. She claimed she had some debts that needed to be repaid and that feelings of jealousy and hatred prompted her to plan the burglary, police said.

Taking advantage of this, Shweta stole her mother’s house keys on the day of the robbery and walked out of her new home under the pretext of buying groceries.

She then reportedly walked into a public toilet where she put on a burqa before heading to her mother’s home. There she used a key to enter the house and fled with the jewelry and cash.

According to police, when Kamlesh informed Shweta about the robbery, she pretended to be worried, thinking no one would suspect her.

After her arrest, she also told police she had sold the jewelry. However, the police managed to recover them.
