A 12-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenage girl was stabbed in Kent, police said.

Police and paramedics were called to Adelaide Avenue in Sittingbourne at 3.55pm on Friday following reports of a stabbing. kent police.

They found the girl at the scene with stab wounds and took her to hospital in London, where she is in a stable condition.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody.

Police are urging anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage of the scene to come forward.
