Boy, 11, arrested after indecent assault in Bristol

An 11-year-old boy has been arrested after a series of attacks on four women and a teenage girl over five days in Bristol.

The incidents took place between Wednesday, March 20 and Monday, March 25, in the Redcliffe and Montpellier areas of the city.

Somerset Police said a woman and a teenage girl were molested and three other women were approached by someone armed with a knife.

Police attended each scene, but the criminals had fled the area. The attacks are believed to be related based on the locations and descriptions of the crimes provided by the women.

The boy was detained on Monday, April 1, and later released on bail on the condition that he stay at home between 7pm and 7am.

A public appeal was launched on Tuesday, March 26, for any witnesses to the incident and any footage that could help police.

Police urge anyone with information to call 101 and provide the operator with reference number 5224072591.

Acting Chief Inspector Tom Gent said: “We continue to investigate each incident and remain open to whether they are connected.

“The person we have arrested is a child and we have interviewed him along with an appropriate adult to see if he has any information about these incidents that could assist our investigation. As part of our duty to protect, we have also Work with legal partners.

“The nature of these crimes is concerning and police continue to target patrols to provide reassurance and act as a deterrent.”
