BJP wants Arvind Kejriwal to resign over free water, electricity supply: Sanjay Singh

Sanjay Singh got bail from the Supreme Court on Tuesday in connection with the GST policy scam.

New Delhi:

Hours after his release from Tihar jail on Wednesday, BJP MP Sanjay Singh lashed out at the BJP in a speech, saying the party wanted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kej Arvind Kejriwal resigned to stop the provision of free water, electricity and Mohalla clinics in the capital.

Singh, who on Tuesday got bail from the Supreme Court in the alleged GST policy scam, also asked the BJP if the prime minister would join the investigation if police come to visit in the opposition-ruled states of Bengal, Punjab and Tamil Nadu.

He said AAP leaders Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain were sent to jail because they wanted to provide good education, medical facilities, free buses and Rs 1,000 subsidy to women in Delhi.

Mr. Singh said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is a big family.

Immediately after his release from Tihar jail, the Rajya Sabha MP met Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of the Delhi chief minister, and said he saw tears in her eyes.

Mr. Singh said he would also meet the families of Sisodia and Jain.

He asked the people of the country to be wary of “dictators” who would bring tears to their eyes and said Mr Kejriwal would bring smiles to their faces and provide them with good education and medical facilities.

“If the dictators of this country can hear my voice, then listen, we are the AAP born out of a movement. We will not be intimidated by your threats,” Singh told a packed AAP office said during his speech. Join a jubilant crowd of party supporters and volunteers.

“For the first time, I saw tears in the eyes of Arvind Kejriwal’s wife. Two BJP leaders in Delhi will respond to the BJP over these tears,” he said.

“You sent Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain to jail. They provide free education to senior citizens and medical care, free pilgrimage (tourism), free bus rides for women is it their fault?” he asked.

Mr. Singh thanked AAP volunteers and leaders for standing against the “dictatorship” of the BJP.

He said the BJP also wanted to arrest other AAP leaders, including ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha and MLA duurgesh Pathak.

“I spent some time in jail…(Prime Minister Narendra) ‘Modi ji kaan khol kar suno (listen carefully)’, every leader and volunteer of AAP is firmly with Chief Minister Kejriwal stands together,” he said.

Mr. Singh accused the BJP of meaning “Bangaru Janta Party”.

He was referring to former Bharatiya Janata Party national president Bangaru Laxman, who was convicted in a corruption case.

Mr Singh accused the “biggest corrupter” of holding the top job in the BJP.

He insisted that Kejriwal would not resign as Delhi chief minister and continue to serve the 20 million people of Delhi. “The BJP is demanding his resignation. They are not asking Mr. Kejriwal to resign, but they are saying why doesn’t he stop free electricity, water supply, free bus services for women and mohalla clinics,” Mr. Singh said.

He claimed that AAP will work harder and people will vote in response to Mr Kejriwal’s “imprisonment” in the Lok Sabha polls.
