BJP says Dilip Ghosh’s remarks ‘indecent and unparliamentary’

Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda on Tuesday issued a notice seeking clarification from party leader Dilip Ghosh on his remarks against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The BJP has written a letter saying Mr Ghosh’s remarks were “indecent and unparliamentary” and violated the party’s ethos and values.

The party said it strongly condemned such remarks and sought an explanation from Dilip Ghosh on the matter.

Addressing reporters in Durgapur, BJP MP Dilip Ghosh said Mamata Banerjee calls herself the state’s daughter wherever she goes and “she must recognize herself” ‘s father”.

“When Didi (CM Mamata Banerjee) went to Goa, she called herself the daughter of Goa. When she went to Tripura, she said she was the daughter of Tripura. She should first recognize My own father…” said Dilip Ghosh.

Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress complained to the Election Commission of India about Mr Ghosh’s remarks against Ms Banerjee.

The TMC said the BJP leader’s personal remarks violated the Model Code of Conduct.

Citing a section under the Poll Act, which states that “no political party or candidate shall engage in any activity or make any statement which may attack the personal life of any person or which may be malicious or offensive to decency and morals”, West Bengal The ruling party urged the Election Commission to take immediate action against Mr Ghosh.

“Mr Ghosh’s comments not only cross the line of decency but also perpetuate a culture of misogyny and disrespect for women in positions of power,” the letter to the pollster read.

The BJP leader’s remarks drew sharp criticism from TMC leaders.

“This mentality of the BJP leader has humiliated Nari Shakti. He had earlier made derogatory remarks about Maa Durga. He should be held responsible for his remarks against Mamata under the POCSO Act Banerjee was arrested for his remarks…” TMC leader Kirti Azad said.

West Bengal Minister Shashi Panja said that BJP leaders are so stingy and such people should be defeated in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“We are all daughters of India. Wherever we go, we will be daughters of India. No matter which state we go to, we will be daughters of India. Dilip Ghosh is a villain. He is contesting elections , he thinks he will win and become a people’s representative, can such a person be a people’s representative?”
