BJP candidate from Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency Kompera Madhavi Lata on Sunday scoffed at complaints against her for making the controversial arrow gesture against a mosque and said if she was against Muslims then why should she Participate in processions and hand-distribute food to many people during the holy month of Ramzan.

Kompella Madhavi Latha, the BJP candidate from Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, sparked controversy after a video surfaced in which she gestured to shoot an arrow, allegedly in the direction of a mosque .

During the celebrations, the mosques were covered with white cloth to avoid public tensions.

On Sunday, a resident of First Lancer in Hyderabad lodged a complaint against Madhavi Latha following the controversy. The complainant was identified as Shaik Imran.

To this, she told ANI, “On the occasion of Ram Navami… for Dhanush who is not there, for Teer (arrow) who is not there, for the reaction of the teeer who is there who is not there, they made a fake video of me …They filed charges and registered an FIR…”

“One person said that I provoked Muslims and on a public level I tried to provoke Muslims. I would say it was a festive moment. You crossed a particular road and this behavior happened in my phone and in other cellphone films The mosque was not in the picture… This is ridiculous,” the BJP candidate said.

Imran has lodged a complaint with Begum Bazar police station and referred the matter to the Election Commission.

The BJP candidate later issued an explanation to X. “It has come to my attention that a video of me is being circulated in the media to create a negative impact. I would like to clarify that this is an incomplete video and if anyone has any feelings, I would like to clarify.” Hurtful, I want to apologize,” Rasha said on April 19.

Earlier on Friday, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out at her, saying the arrow was aimed at peace and tranquility in the city.

Asaduddin Owaisi, who was addressing the first public meeting after filing his nomination for the Hyderabad constituency, alleged that Madhavi Lata’s move was aimed at weakening the peace between Hindus and Muslims in the city.

“You see a candidate of the BJP gesturing to shoot arrows in the direction of the mosque. If you feel even the slightest pain, you should vote not for the party but for ‘ibadatgah’ (prayer) if you are still Keep sleeping and when will you get up,” Asaduddin Owaisi said.

“That imaginary arrow is not pointing towards any mosque but towards the peace and tranquility of Hyderabad. This shows that they (BJP) intend to destroy the peace in Hyderabad. This is done to weaken the peace between Hindus and Muslims .You can argue with me, but peace in the city is for everyone,” he added.

The old city, which consists of two Lok Sabha seats (Hyderabad and Secunderabad), will go to the Lok Sabha polls on May 13. Counting is scheduled for May 4.

Asaduddin Owaisi has served four terms in the Lok Sabha as Hyderabad’s elected representative since 2004, having previously been elected twice in the erstwhile undivided state of Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency consists of seven assembly districts – Bahadurpura, Chandrayangutta, Charminar, Goshamahal, Karwan, Malakpet and Yakatpura. Except Goshamahal, all parliamentary seats are currently held by AIMIM.

Candidates from the family of Asaduddin Owaisi or candidates supported by them have been elected in Hyderabad since 1984 and Asaduddin Owaisi currently holds the Lok Sabha seat in this seat MP.
