BJP chief, three party candidates elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Gujarat

Tuesday was the last date for withdrawal of nomination forms.

Gandhinagar:

BJP president JP Nadda and three other party candidates were declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat on Tuesday.

Four Rajya Sabha seats were vacant in the state and all the candidates of the ruling BJP had filed their nomination papers.

Since no other candidate had filed nomination papers on the four vacant seats for the Rajya Sabha elections from Gujarat, Returning Officer Rita Mehta declared all four BJP candidates, including Nadda, elected unopposed to the Upper House of Parliament, an official said.

Tuesday was the last date for withdrawal of nomination forms.

Apart from Nadda, the three other candidates elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha were diamond trader Govindbhai Dholakia, BJP leader Jaswant Singh Parmar and Mayank Nayak.
