'Where do mosques come from?': BJP Hyderabad candidate talks 'imaginary arrow'

Madhavi Latha is the candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat.

Hyderabad:

The Telangana BJP Lok Sabha candidate’s gesture at an election rally – pretending to pull an arrow and shoot an arrow near a mosque – came under severe criticism, with AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi slamming him ‘Vulgar, obscene and provocative’ behavior at Ram Navami rally Wednesday

The BJP leader in question, Madhavai Latha, is the party’s candidate in the Hyderabad seat, which has been held by Mr Owaisi since 2004 and by his since 1989. Father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi served. Ms Latta broke out in a statement on Thursday night after the row, claiming he would apologize “if anyone’s feelings were hurt”. However, she also claimed that the video circulating was “incomplete.”

In a 10-second video that has been widely shared, Ms. Rasha, dressed in saffron and wearing a yellow garland around her neck, puts on a dramatic display. Loud music plays as she pretends to draw an arrow from the quiver on her back, slits the pretend arrow, and fires the imaginary weapon. The video online shows her in the mosque at the moment she fires the “arrow”.

After criticizing the video, the BJP leader said on , I want to clarify if anyone feels hurt by a video like this, I want to apologize…”

She also gave an interview to the Press Trust of India news agency, claiming that this was a “conspiracy against us (BJP)… because we work well with both Hindu and Muslim brothers” and asked “where did this mosque come from ?”

“Yesterday, on the occasion of Ram Navami, I signaled to shoot an (imaginary) arrow into the sky. I shot that arrow towards a building and that was it. Where did this mosque come from?”

“These people (AIMIM) have always used hate speech to sideline PPP leaders and divert people’s attention. They have become expert at inciting youth. This is a conspiracy…”

However, Mr Owaisi, a fierce critic of the BJP, refused to budge.

“The people of Hyderabad have seen what the BJP is up to. They will not accept the vulgar and provocative behavior of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, considered the ideological guru of the ruling party,” he said. “Is this ‘Viksit Bharat’?” ‘Is the BJP talking about this? “

“Elections have their own place. But what is more important is peace in Telangana and Hyderabad…the brotherhood and brotherhood that prevails here, they (BJP) want to destroy that.”

Mr Owaisi’s party has also called on the electoral commission to take action.
