BJP agrees to continue Arvind Kejriwal as chief minister

A BJP spokesperson criticized the AAP for running the Delhi government out of jail.

Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Saturday told the Aam Aadmi Party that arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Arvind Kejriwal has responded to claims that he will run the government from jail and said the AAP government has “Sata Medicine” (Addicted to power).

Poonawalla further asked the people of Delhi whether the government cabinet meetings will be held in jails?

“from “Swaraj” to “Sharaab”from ‘Anna Hazare’ to ‘Lalu Prasad Yadav’, what we see today is actually ‘Sata’s Medicine’. When this “satta ka nasha” comes to your mind, take a look at the first words ever spoken by this Aam Aadmi Party “Resign and then “Check”. They used to say Laluji and Sonia ji.Today, when the court remanded them in custody, they said no ‘Resign’ (Resignation), None ‘Check’ We will run our ‘government’ (The government) is from Tihar,” the BJP leader said.

He further said that this is the first time that the government is working in jails.

“This is the first time that a government is functioning from behind bars. Is this constitutionally, legally and morally possible? If this is vendetta politics, then your best Congress has written the first complaint about the liquor scam. Pawan Khera said we have started an investigation. Congress should tell us if AAP is corrupt? But look how the ‘kaal chakra’ has changed,” he added.

He further said that the people of Delhi will not stop questioning the liquor scam by playing the “victim card”.

“It shows Anna Hazare with tears in her eyes and Arvind Kejriwal transforming in the presence of Lalu Prasad Yadav,” he added.

Earlier, Bhardwaj had said in an interview to ANI on Saturday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should continue as chief minister.

“Arvind Kejriwal will do whatever people want. He always takes decisions in public interest and larger interest. Before taking this decision (which ED regulates Delhi affairs), he got in touch with all MLAs Contact was made, meetings were held and MPs were met. We also spoke to people in all constituencies. Everyone said Arvind Kejriwal should continue as chief minister as there are no rules stopping him from being in jail (detention of education department) run the government,” Bhardwaj said.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said the education ministry has given its factual position and the court will take a decision immediately.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said it was not surprising that the Left and Congress parties came together as they are INDI alliance partners and collaborate in elections across the country

“For them to come together only reinforces the fact that they are essentially two sides of the same coin… What they are doing in Kerala is just a drama… The people of the country are not happy with Arvind Kejriwal Arrest Angry Drama It is perfectly clear that Arvind Kejriwal was served with the decency and courtesy of multiple ED summons… He chose not to appear before ED… The consequence of not responding to multiple ED summons was arrest… Why did he not respond Earlier subpoenas? … Every year and every election, the Congress and the Left lose ground and popular support because people no longer want half-truths,” Chandrasekhar said.

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party chief Virendraa Sachdeva along with former Union minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and other leaders have vowed to fight corruption in Mahatma Gandhi in the national capital.

“The protest was initiated by the BJP cadre in Mahatma Gandhi Town where every party worker took oath and demanded the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the kingpin of the capital’s biggest liquor scam …This Ramliramadan under the leadership of Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal made many promises and he called every leader corrupt , and today he has joined them. We are just asking him (Arvind Kejriwal) to resign,” said Dr Harsh Vardhan, former Union minister and BJP leader.

Earlier today, at a press conference, senior AAP leader and minister Atishi claimed that money traces were found in the accounts of the BJP and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ED to “arrest” the BJP National Chairman JP Nadda.

“The so-called excise tax policy scam in Delhi has been investigated by the CBI and ED for two years. In the past two years, a question has been constantly raised: Where did the money go? Where did the money go?”? No proceeds of crime have been recovered from any leader, minister or functionary of AAP,” Atish said.

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said the BJP, the RBI, the central government and the Election Commission have been trying not to disclose details since the Supreme Court began discussing the electoral bonds issue.

“Ever since the Supreme Court came up to discuss the electoral bonds issue, the BJP, RBI, central government and the Election Commission have tried not to reveal the details. However, now it has been revealed; it raises all kinds of serious questions,” he added .

AAP leader Priyanka Kakkar also said that the Supreme Court acted very strictly and asked them to disclose all the details publicly.

“The Supreme Court’s action is very stringent and requires them to disclose all the details publicly. However, the data (related to electoral bonds) before 2019 is still missing,” Kakkar said.

Arvind Kejriwal was on Friday remanded to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate for seven days, i.e. till March 28, a day after he was arrested by the probe agency in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case in connection with the money laundering case.

The order was passed by Special CBI Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court after Kejriwal was produced before the court on Friday after he was arrested by the Central Investigative Agency on Thursday night.

Two senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are in judicial custody in the GST policy case. Sisodia, then deputy chief minister of Delhi, was arrested by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, 2023, after multiple rounds of interrogation. On October 5 last year, the Ministry of Education arrested Sanjay Singh, a member of the House of Representatives.
