Biden’s censorship of social media a bigger threat than Trump: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sparked a debate by calling President Joe Biden a greater threat to democracy than former President Donald Trump. The 2024 U.S. presidential election will essentially be a rematch between Biden and Trump, with members of the Kennedy family likely to swing some key votes.

The US presidential election is scheduled for November 2024.

The First Amendment provides that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. It protects freedom of speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government for redress of grievances.

CNN quoted Robert F. Kennedy as saying: “President Biden is the first candidate and the first president in history to use federal agencies to censor political speech and, therefore, his opponents. .”

Members of the Kennedy family have been accused of spreading false news on social media.

Kennedy is an anti-vaxxer who has used social media to spread misinformation related to the coronavirus and vaccines. According to NBC News, Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine organization led by Kennedy, was removed from Instagram and Facebook in 2022 for spreading misinformation about vaccines and the new coronavirus.

Kennedy ran for president

Kennedy, a 70-year-old independent presidential candidate who initially ran as a Democrat before moving to an independent stance.

He has attacked free speech in the Biden administration and has allegedly weaponized federal agencies against political opponents.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is from the Democratic House but is popular with far-right Republicans for his stance on vaccines and conspiracy theories.

Kennedy picks Nicole Shanahan as his running mate in recognition of his independent White House campaign.

He agreed that Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results were a threat to democracy.

Still, he maintained his stance that Biden poses a greater risk.

“I think it’s a threat to democracy, and (Trump’s) attempt to overturn the election is clearly a threat to democracy. But the question is, who poses the more serious threat to democracy? I would say… I can say Biden The president is,” Kennedy said, according to CNN.

In response to Kennedy’s remarks, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) dismissed the comparison between Biden and Trump.

“There’s no comparison to calling a mob to the Capitol on day one and promising to be a dictator,” said senior adviser Mary Beth Cahill.

Kennedy, known for his opposition to public health directives and vaccine skepticism, has faced criticism from some family members for challenging Biden.

Still, he remained steadfast in the campaign, claiming: “The chances of this happening are too great and too important to me to give up on this race.”

Kennedy’s comments sparked discussion about free speech during the presidential campaign and the role of social media in politics.
