Bhopal:

The Madhya Pradesh Congress on Sunday challenged the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to release a list of 2.58 lakh people, mostly from the grand old party, who have joined the party, as claimed by party leaders Saffron party.

Former minister Narottam Mishra claimed on Saturday that more than 2.58 lakh people had joined the saffron party in the state in the past three months, of which 1.26 lakh had joined on April 6 alone. Most are from the Congress Party.

Talking to reporters, state Congress president Jitu Patwari said the BJP has only released to the media the list of prominent leaders who have joined the party, including 336 leaders.

“I question them, will the BJP publish the list of 258,000 workers who have joined the party?” Mr. Patwari accused the BJP of misleading the people through false statements.

He further claimed that mafia members related to mining, sand, transport and education who have business dealings with the government have joined the BJP.

“Those who were expelled from different parties for indiscipline have joined the BJP. We have expelled such people,” he said.

Reacting to the allegations, BJP spokesperson Narendra Saluja in a tweet on X named Patwari, who left the great old party after he became the party’s national president leader of the Congress Party.

Congress leaders nominated by Saluja include former union minister Suresh Pachouri, Chhindwara mayor Vikram Ahake, MLA Kamlesh Shah (MLA Kamlesh Shah), former minister Deepak Saxena, Jabalpur Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh and others who have recently joined the saffron outfit.

“Patwari should explain whether they are a mafia,” a BJP spokesperson said.

During his interaction with the media, Mr Patwari also posed questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will attend a roadshow in Jabalpur later in the day.

The Congress leader said the Prime Minister should clarify why no action has been taken against the accused in the VYAPAM recruitment scam so far.

He said when the BJP contested and won the assembly elections under the leadership of former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, why Mohan Yadav was elected from Delhi on the basis of A note was sent and he was appointed Chief Minister.

He also asked the Prime Minister to explain to the people the unfulfilled promises of the BJP, including two crore jobs and MSP for wheat and rice.
