The newly constructed Ram temple has received donations worth about Rs 25 crore, including 25 kg of gold and silver jewellery, in a month following the consecration ceremony on January 22, trust officials said on Saturday.

Ram Mandir Trust office in-charge Prakash Gupta said the amount of Rs 25 crore includes cheques, drafts and cash deposited in the temple trust office as well as money deposited in donation boxes.

“However, we are not aware of online transactions made directly into the trust’s bank accounts,” he said.

Gupta said that since January 23 till now, a total of about 60 lakh devotees have visited.

Gupta said the temple trust expects a surge in donations during the Ram Navami festival days, when around 50 lakh devotees will be present in Ayodhya.

Gupta further said that State Bank of India (SBI) has installed four automated high-tech counting machines at the Ram Janmabhoomi to handle the huge inflow of cash and expected offerings during Ram Navami.

“A dozen computerized counters have been set up by the Trust for issuing receipts and additional donation boxes are being maintained by the Ram Mandir Trust in the temple premises. A large and well-equipped counting room will soon be built in the Ram Mandir complex,” he said. ,

Trustee of Ram Mandir Trust, Anil Mishra said that the responsibility of evaluation, melting and maintenance of gold and silver jewelery and precious materials gifted to Ram Lalla has been entrusted to the Mint of the Government of India.

Mishra said that along with this an MoU has been signed between SBI and the Trust.

He said that as per the MoU, SBI will take the entire responsibility of collecting donations, prasad, cheques, drafts and cash and depositing it in the bank.

Mishra said that a team of SBI has started its work by increasing the staff and the donated cash is being counted in two shifts daily.
