If you have not been able to plan your visit to Ayodhya for the consecration of the Ram temple on January 22, you can still show your devotion to Lord Ram right from the comfort of your home. You can light the diya digitally using an app called Shree Mandir without coming to Ayodhya. Devotees across the world can light a diya in their name as part of the Deepotsav initiative on the Shree Mandir app, lighting 1, 5, 11 or 21 lamps to welcome Lord Ram to Ayodhya.

Between January 18 and January 24, the Raj Dwar Temple in Ayodhya will host a week-long event during which the app will light more than 100,000 lamps. Apart from the app, devotees can access the Shree Mandir website. There is a section here called Ramotsav. On clicking this you will see the option of “Light lamps in Ayodhya”. You can choose between 1, 5, 11 and 21 lamps from this point. The starting price of this digital service is Rs 51.

Earlier, the UP government in November last year had launched the sacred Ayodhya mobile app to allow devotees to digitally light lamps during Deepotsav 2023. Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) took the idea forward, enlisting e-commerce startup shopclues.com to develop the app and oversee the completion of the project.

During the eighth Deepotsav on the eve of Diwali, more than 22 lakh lamps were lit on the banks of river Saryu in Ayodhya, creating a new Guinness World Record for the most number of lamps lit simultaneously at a single location.

There are reports in the media that scammers are spreading a WhatsApp message wishing you good luck and promising you VIP passes to the event. 22 January in Ram temple. You’ll need to install one of these apps before you can use the pass. But neither the administration nor the Ram Mandir Trust has provided any such VIP pass. It is advised not to install any such apps.
