Fire breaks out due to suspected short circuit in a passenger bus in Northern India The vehicle quickly burst into flames Tuesday and at least 20 people were burned to death, officials said.

Mr Puri said bodies of 19 passengers were recovered from the bus, while one person died on the way to hospital. At least 15 passengers were seriously injured and admitted to hospital for treatment.
smoke Barely five minutes after departure from Jaisalmer, Puri said, the vehicle started moving from the rear due to a suspected short circuit. The driver managed to stop the bus on the roadside near a military station, but within moments flames engulfed the vehicle.
“It was a new bus filled with air conditioning gas. There was just one door for entry and exit. Unfortunately, the passengers sitting at the back could not get out and were burnt alive,” said Puri, who was at the spot when local government and military officials launched rescue efforts.
The local government issued an appeal for information from relatives to confirm the identities of the victims, and planned to identify the remains using DNA evidence.
