Arvind Kejriwal claims police who roughed up AAP leader misbehaved with him

AAP president appears at Louth Avenue Court

New Delhi:

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that a Delhi police officer who allegedly manhandled former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia inside a court in the city has now misbehaved with him.

The AAP chief stated this in an application filed before the Drilaos Avenue Court, in which he sought the removal of the officer from the security cordon.

Mr Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the liquor policy case, had alleged in his application that Assistant Commissioner of Police AK Singh misbehaved with him while he was being brought to the court for hearing of the remand application. the agency earlier Friday. The nature of the alleged misconduct is unclear.

Mr Singh was accused last year of choking Mr Sisodia as reporters asked him questions in the same court. The act was caught on video and Mr Sisodia has lodged a written complaint. Delhi Police denied any wrongdoing and said the behavior in the video was for security reasons and it was illegal for any of the accused to make statements to the media.

The police also moved the court seeking permission to summon Sisodia through video conferencing only. This was necessary, they claimed, because of the “chaos” caused by AAP supporters and media persons who gathered him in the court corridor.

Sisodia was detained in February last year in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, while Kejriwal was arrested by the Education Ministry on Thursday night, becoming the first sitting chief minister to face such action. The AAP chief appeared before the Louth Avenue Court, which granted the agency custody for seven days.

The financial crime agency, which is probing the money laundering angle of the case, has sought Mr Kejriwal’s 10-day detention and said he needed to be confronted with the other accused.

The agency alleged that the chief minister and the AAP received kickbacks in exchange for favors and that he was the “kingpin” and key conspirator in the scam.

According to the ED, the total proceeds from crime were Rs 6 billion. It claimed that the Delhi liquor policy provides a profit margin of 12 per cent to wholesalers and nearly 185 per cent to retailers. Of the 12 per cent, six were recovered from wholesalers as kickbacks to AAP leaders, while a lobby group called the South Group had allegedly given money to Vijay, another accused in the case. An advance of Rs 100 crore was given by Vijay Nair, who has links to Delhi’s ruling party. .
