Arvind Kejriwal arrest live updates: A day after Arvind Kejriwal arrest, AAP plans nationwide protests

Arvind Kejriwal News: ED has brought the Delhi Chief Minister to the office.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on Thursday night after 12 members of the Enforcement Directorate arrived at his official residence with a search warrant in a Delhi liquor policy case.

This is the first time in the history of independent India that a sitting chief minister has been arrested. Two leaders of Kejriwal’s AAP party – Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh – have been arrested by the investigating agency. The chief minister has been summoned nine times by investigative agencies but has repeatedly refused to appear in court, saying the summons was illegal.

After his arrest, Kejriwal said he would continue to serve as chief minister and perform his duties from jail. “Arvind Kejriwal is and will continue to be the chief minister of Delhi… there are no two ways about it,” AAP leader Atishi said. The party has announced nationwide protests against the arrests.
