Anti-terrorism agency approves 3-day transit remand for Bengaluru cafe blast accused

Kolkata:

A city court on Friday granted a three-day transit remand to two accused in the Bengaluru cafe blast case, allowing the NIA to take them to the Karnataka capital for further investigation.

Following prayers by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the chief judge of the city’s court granted the agency’s transit remand.

The NIA said the accused Adbul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa and Mussavir Hussain Shazib were arrested from a hotel in the seaside tourist town of Digha in Purba Medinipur district, about 190 km from Kolkata.

Officials said Taha planned and executed the explosion and Shazib planted an improvised explosive device (IED) in the cafe.
