According to Reuters, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine to freeze the conflict has been rejected by the United States. Three Russian sources with knowledge of the discussions told Reuters that Putin’s proposal was rejected by the United States after being approached by an intermediary. Reuters writes that Putin’s failed approach marks the third year of Europe’s worst conflict since World War II. The failed talks also highlighted deep differences between the world’s two largest nuclear powers.
