Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday attacked the opposition, saying the constitution and democracy would be in danger if he wins a third term and claiming scrapping Article 370 would ensure the law is enforced across the country .

Addressing a rally in Kanhan town of Nagpur district in support of the ruling alliance candidates from Nagpur, Ramtek, Bhandara-Gondia Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, the Prime Minister said, The soul of chief framer BR Ambedkar must bless him for abrogating Article 370 which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The BJP’s star campaigner accused the opposition of fooling the people, saying he would amend the constitution if he was reelected for a third term, and asked whether democracy was not under threat during the Emergency (1975-77).

The prime minister said the abuses against him by the opposition would only help increase the number of seats in the Lok Sabha for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

This is Prime Minister Modi’s second visit to Vidarbha and the first phase of voting will be held on April 19 this week. On Monday, he campaigned for the BJP nominees from Chandrapur and Gadchiroli Chimur.

“If the Constitution is so important, why did it not come into effect across the country until Article 370 was abrogated (in 2019). The opposition resisted the abrogation as it was soft on separatists,” he claimed.

Prime Minister Modi said that due to the abrogation of Article 370, Dalits and tribals in the Union Territory have now been given constitutional rights, while under the Congress party, they were ignored in vote bank politics.

“After the abrogation of Article 370, Ambedkar’s soul will surely bless Modi,” he said, terming the landmark step as an achievement of the Modi government.

“The work done in the past 10 years is just the appetizer, the main course is yet to come,” he said at the meeting as he sought re-election to advance his development agenda. “In the next five years, your dream is Modi’s dream.” sankalp. The BJP staunch supporter said the upcoming elections are not just about electing MPs but about strengthening India’s thousand-year foundation.

“On April 19, you will not only vote for a candidate but also strengthen the foundation of India for the next 1,000 years,” he said.

Kanhan town is located in Ramtek parliamentary constituency.
