Amarnath Yatra: Female pilgrim dies, 3 injured in landslide

Officials said a female pilgrim lost her life, while three others maintained injuries in a landslide along with the Baltal Marg of Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gandarbal district, while the authorities have temporarily suspended the journey due to security concerns.

Officials told the news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a landslide occurred in the Z-Mode near the upper railwaypathry, downhilling several pilgrims along the Baltal Axis, leading to the holy cave.

The injured were taken to the Baltal Base Camp Hospital, where a woman was declared dead on arrival.

The deceased has been identified as Sona Bhai, wife of Dara Bhai, a resident of Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, officials said that no new batch of pilgrims would be allowed to move beyond Jammu towards the holy cave today.

This decision was taken in view of heavy rainfall along the landslide and travel route- (KNO)
