New Delhi:
The Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft recently took off from the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) in the northern sector of Kashmir Valley as part of the ongoing Gagan Shakti-24 exercise, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
The Ministry of Defense said that a large number of troops were airlifted and subsequently dropped by Chinook, Mi-17 V5 and ALH Mk-III helicopters at night.
“The IAF is also planning to conduct similar exercises in coordination with state government administrations to activate ELFs in other areas. Various fixed and rotary wing platforms of the IAF will conduct coordinated landings and operations on these ELFs, which requires good planning with civil administrations and coordinated adoption of a nationwide approach (WNA),” the Ministry of Defense said.
Emergency Landing Facility operations provide Indian Air Force aircraft with the opportunity to conduct operations from such restricted landing surfaces while also enabling humanitarian assistance and relief operations to provide relief and relief during natural disasters.
“The ability to operate on these highways at night and to divert troops from these roads will significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the Indian armed forces,” the Indian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
