AAP Protest: Police close many roads, massive traffic jam in Delhi

New Delhi:

Officials said there was heavy traffic jam near ITO Chowk, Raj Ghat and Vikas Marg this morning due to AAP protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, leading to the closure of roads to the BJP headquarters and ED office.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and supporters are protesting at the ITO intersection near AAP and BJP headquarters on DDU Marg. Police officials asked the protesters to disperse in view of the prohibitory order under Section 144 in the area.

The police set up roadblocks on the road leading to DDU Marg and closed several roads in central Delhi for vehicular traffic.

The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on X, “In view of the protests raised by political parties at DDU Marg Delhi, traffic will remain heavy on IP Marg, Vikas Marg, Minto Road and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. DDU Marg will continue to be closed for traffic movement. Please avoid Drive these roads and plan your trip accordingly.”

Geeta Colony and Rajghat also witnessed severe traffic congestion.

Traffic police advised commuters to avoid Krishna Menon Marg, Motilal Nehru Marg, Janpath and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road as the roads leading to the ED office were also closed.

AAP has called for nationwide protests against the BJP following the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday night.
