Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Sunday said that he has served the people of Thiruvananthapuram for 15 years and he is “very confident” of winning the Lok Sabha seat again.

“I have served the people of Thiruvananthapuram for 15 years. They know me and have seen my services. I have nothing to be ashamed of in my record. I have always been available and taken care of all People who need it.’ The main problem,” he said.

Notably, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar of the Bharatiya Janata Party is up against Congress MP Tharoor.

This is the first time Chandrasekhar is contesting the Lok Sabha polls. He also serves as the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“This is the campaign I am looking forward to and I will start campaigning soon. I will be facing the big issues of the people of Thiruvananthapuram,” Rajiv Chandrasekhar said.

Congress has announced the first list of candidates for 39 Lok Sabha constituencies. Names of Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshwadeep, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Telangana and Tripura Already announced.

Of the 39 candidates announced, 16 are from Kerala, seven from Karnataka, six from Chhattisgarh and four from Telangana. There are two from Meghalaya and one each from Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim and Lakshwadeep. The list was released after the party held a Central Election Committee meeting on Thursday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced the first batch of 195 candidates. The Lok Sabha polls are likely to be held in April-May this year.
