Bansuri Swaraj, the BJP candidate from New Delhi’s Lok Sabha constituency, claimed that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has become a party that “kicks back itself”.

Ms. Swaraj also took a dig at the resignation of Chief Minister and party national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s cabinet colleague Raaj Kumar Anand.

“Yesterday, the Delhi High Court said that the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal was legal. Today, Raaj Kumar Anand, who has been working with Kejriwal ji since 2010, tried to leave those corrupt elements. When will Arvind Kejriwal’s conscience awaken? Today AAP has Become a ‘kickback’ yourself party,” she said.

Delhi Social Welfare Minister Raaj Kumar Anand resigned from his post and resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) earlier in the day, accusing the party of corruption.

At a press conference announcing his resignation, Raj Kumar Anand said he did not wish to “participate in any corrupt practices,” adding that it would be difficult for him to continue in the position.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Delhi High Court upheld the legality of the Enforcement Directorate’s arrest of Arvind Kejriwal in an excise case and said Arvind Kejriwal’s repeated failure to comply with summons for more than six months was indeed a factor that led to his arrest. The court said that had the petitioner participated in the investigation by issuing summons under Section 50 of the PMLA, he could have given his version of the material collected by the investigating agency.

Mr. Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the excise policy case.

The trial court on April 1 sent Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15. ED said AAP was the main beneficiary of proceeds of crime in the alleged liquor scam.
