New Delhi:

AAP Delhi unit convener Gopal Rai on Thursday called for nationwide protests against the BJP after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) .

Rai said Kejriwal’s arrest was the “murder of democracy” and “a declaration of dictatorship”.

The ED arrested Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday night in a money laundering case related to the excise policy and took him to the agency’s headquarters, officials said.

The arrest, the first for a sitting chief minister, came hours after the Delhi High Court refused to grant protection to the AAP national convenor from any enforcement action by federal agencies.

“I appeal to fellow citizens to protest against this dictatorship outside the BJP offices across the country. We will gather at the AAP office at 10 am on Friday and then protest outside the BJP headquarters,” Delhi government minister Rai said.

“If Kejriwal can be arrested, then anyone can be arrested and their voice silenced. From today, the battle has begun. Arvind Kejriwal is not a person but a Ideology,” he added.

Rai claimed that since the formation of the India Bloc, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Center believed that it would not get 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls but would be limited to 40 seats.

He claimed that, therefore, the saffron party was targeting opposition leaders. “Today, they have breached all restrictions. All of you will go home tonight. I appeal to Delhiites to join the fight,” the minister said.

At a midnight press conference, Delhi ministers Atishi, Gopal Rai and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak condemned the manner in which Kejriwal was arrested.

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj was also present.

Pathak told a press conference, “This is no longer a fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Australian People’s Party. This is a fight between the people of the country and the Bharatiya Janata Party. This is no longer a fight between the Australian People’s Party and the People’s Party.” , but the struggle of all those who support the Bharatiya Janata Party.” I hope the country will have clean politics. ” Atish said Kejriwal’s fight would continue “from the road to the courts”.

“The Supreme Court will hear the case on Friday. The arrest is unconstitutional. They arrested (former Jharkhand chief minister) Hemant Soren, Arvind Kejriwal Arvind Kejriwal) and froze Congress accounts,” she said.

Earlier, Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely participated in the AAP protest outside Kejriwal’s official residence.

“They arrested Hemant Soren, Arvind Kejriwal, frozen our accounts. Where is democracy in the country heading? We stand with our India Group partners together and will stand firm against the election,” Lovely said. PTI SLB RC
