Delhi Capitals suffered a major setback as their Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh returned home for treatment after suffering a torn right hamstring. Marsh, who will be named Australia’s T20 World Cup captain in June, was recalled after consultation with the Delhi team management, ESPNCricinfo reported. However, a final decision on his availability for the remainder of the season has yet to be determined. Marsh last played against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3 and missed the previous two matches against Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Supergiants.

Marsh’s highest score this season was just 23 points against Rajasthan Royals, who won by 12 points. He was out during their 106-run win over KKR.

Marsh’s outstanding performances across all formats for the Kangaroos earned him the Alan Border Medal for Australia’s Most Outstanding Male Cricketer of the Year.

Since January 2023, the 32-year-old has scored 1,954 runs in 38 games at an average of 50.10, including three centuries, besides taking 10 wickets.

Apart from Marsh, DC are also worried about the availability of Australian veteran David Warner for Wednesday’s away game against the Gujarat Titans.

Warner injured his finger while trying to catch a ball against LSG on Friday.

His fingers were reportedly swollen and he underwent scans after the team arrived in Ahmedabad.
