Chennai, Oct 29 (IANS) Chief Minister MK Stalin will on Wednesday undertake an extensive tour of Tamil Nadu’s Tenkasi district, inaugurating a series of government welfare schemes and distributing aid to thousands of beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister will start his journey from Ariyanakipuram in Tirunelveli district in the morning and proceed to Tenkasi by road. He will be given a grand welcome under the leadership of Tirunelveli (West) DMK in-charge Avudaiyappan at the district border in Alangulam.
From there, CM Stalin will proceed to Lathur via Athiyuthu, Surandai and Sambavaravadakarai, where he will hand over the 1,00,000th house constructed under the Kalaignar Kanavu Ilam Housing Scheme to beneficiary Sumathi – a major milestone in the state’s flagship project.
Later in the day, the chief minister will attend a large-scale government function at the Ananthapuram grounds on the Ayikudi-Tenkasi road. During the ceremony he will distribute welfare assistance worth Rs 445 crore to around 24,000 beneficiaries of various social welfare departments.
Besides this, he will inaugurate completed public works worth Rs 575 crore and lay the foundation stone of several new projects.
Overall, the Chief Minister will launch development and welfare initiatives worth Rs 1,020 crore for Tenkasi district. A huge pavilion and stage has been built for the event, along with the venue being decorated with banners highlighting various government schemes.
After addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Stalin will visit Amar Seva Sangam in Ayikudi, where he will interact with disabled children and review the services provided by the institution.
Thereafter, he will proceed to Courtallam Tourist House for lunch before departure for Madurai in the afternoon. DMK workers have put up party flags and welcome banners all over Tenkasi city to welcome him.
Tight security arrangements have been made under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Arvind, with police units conducting parade rehearsals at the venue to ensure smooth proceedings.
