Sarina Wigman The forward was worried about a serious knee injury. Michelle Agyemang This spoiled England’s 3-0 win Australia,

Substitute Agyemang, the teenage star of the Lionesses’ successful European Championship defense this summer, was carried off on a stretcher as Aggie Beaver-Jones scored, lucy bronze And saw a late Georgia Stanway penalty England For a comfortable win at Pride Park.

It happened against an Australia team that was reduced to just 10 players in the 19th minute, when Alanna Kennedy was sent off for pulling down Alessia Russo as the England striker was racing towards goal.

Agyemang was introduced in the 62nd minute, but in an incident away from the game she went down holding her knee and Wiegman said: “It was a terrible moment, not feeling good.

“We won’t know until he’s evaluated but I’m not very positive about what I saw.”

Beaver-Jones scored an emphatic opener at the second attempt from a free-kick accepted by Kennedy, before Bronze scored the second goal on his 34th birthday.

Stanway’s late spot-kick improved the scoreline and Wiegman said: “Delighted with the result, 3-0 is a good score.

“We started really well, dominated the game, put them under pressure and out of possession.

“They went down to 10 and changed some things. We wanted to keep the momentum, created a lot of good moments, saw some more things we needed to get better at in execution.

“(The red card) was disappointing, and these are the rules. When it’s a qualifier we don’t care, but with a friendly you want to play 11 versus 11. That’s where you get the most out of. We tried to adapt to it immediately.”

The result prompted a positive reaction after Brazil beat England 2-1 on Saturday, one of whose players was also sent off.

Wiegman said: “I really enjoyed this camp. The team came in a good place and everyone was excited to get back for the homecoming tour.

“It was good to see those celebrations but also to get ready for the World Cup qualifiers and want to make the best of these games.”

Australia head coach Joe Montemurro said: “We didn’t start well. England were more active, we didn’t get into any rhythm and the game changed with 10 players.

“There are opportunities to put other ideas into practice. In the second half we made some adjustments, limited opportunities in the box for England.

“He made a good start even before his departure and we take it as a learning curve for ourselves.”
