New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) In a major operation, the Delhi Police Special Cell on Friday busted an Islamic State (ISIS)-inspired terror module and nabbed two operatives who were allegedly planning to carry out IED blasts in the national capital.
Reports said the two suspected terrorists were believed to have undergone training for ‘fidayeen (suicide) attacks’ and were in the final stages of carrying out the terror attack in a crowded area of the city.
According to the police, one of the arrested operatives is from Delhi, while the other is from Madhya Pradesh. One of them was identified as Adnan.
This arrest was made during a joint and coordinated operation of intelligence agencies and Special Cell. The arrests were made in separate operations – one in Delhi’s Sadiq Nagar and the other in Bhopal.
Police sources said that a cache of arms and ammunition was also seized from their possession.
A senior officer told a leading daily that the operation was carried out by a team led by Additional Commissioner Pramod Kushwaha and ACP Lalit Mohan Negi.
The busted terror module is inspired by ISIS and is also believed to be supported by Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).
Meanwhile, intelligence and security agencies are carrying out operations to completely expose their plans and conspiracies to spread terror. Possible links of the busted module with global terror networks are also being investigated.
More details are awaited, but the busting of a terror module in the city is a major success for the security forces and a relief for the general public.
