Jagdeep Dhankar resigned as the vice president of India; Health causes causes

Web Desk, 21/07/2025

India’s Vice President Jagdeep Dhikra has on Monday resigned from the post citing the need to give priority to health concerns and medical advice.

His resignation addressed to Honorable President Draupadi Murmu is immediately effective according to Article 67 (A) of the Constitution of India.

In an emotional and hearty resignation letter, Dhankhar expressed deep gratitude for President Murmu for his “unwavering support” and “soothing and amazing working relationship”, which he shared during his tenure.

He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers, given that his support was “invaluable” and he had “learned a lot during his time” in the office.

Dhankhar appreciated his warmth for the members of Parliament, recalling the trust, affection and honor and received him from a political spectrum. He wrote, “The warmth, faith and affection I have received from all the honorable members of Parliament will ever be nurtured and built in my memory.”

While reflecting his time as the Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Dhankhar highlighted India’s remarkable economic and developmental progress, called it a “transformative era” in the country’s journey. He expressed pride in India’s global growth and expressed “unwavering confidence” in the bright future of the nation.

He wrote, “It has been a privilege and satisfaction to witness and participate in India’s remarkable economic progress and unprecedented exponential development during this important period. It has been a true honor to serve in this transformative era of our country’s history,” he wrote.
