The Indian Army launched Radio Kangan 88.4 FM in Wuson, Gandarbal, Central Kashmir to connect and empower with local youth by providing a platform for public service outreach including education, culture, entrepreneurship, and more.
The station emphasizes community participation and aims to promote development through local participation.
The main objective behind launching the radio bracelet 88.4 FM is to install a straight line of communication with the younger generation.
Radio, being one of the most effective mass communication equipment, has a unique ability to reach people in remote sectors also, making them come to know about government schemes, development programs and social welfare initiatives.
The station not only fulfills the people of the gandarbal, but also works in the areas near the central Kashmir, which often unheard. Through this forum, the community has the right to raise issues, share success stories and participate in meaningful discussions.
In addition, the radio station plays an important role in supporting Amarnath Yatra, which ensures coordination, public safety messages and real -time updates for pilgrims and residents.
Beyond the spread of information, the radio bracelet is emerging as a cultural center, broadcasting programs have inspirational stories of local music, folklore, poetry and flexibility. By doing this, it helps preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Talking to ANI, RJ Mudsir of the Bracelet Community Radio Station said that this is a major initiative to cut unemployment.
Mudsir said, “I think it works as a bridge between the community and the government. It also supports local talents by providing them with this platform, which eventually leads to employment opportunities. Here, talent also recognizes,” Mudsir said.
Mudsir explained how community radio stands out of national level and commercial radio, saying, “Many small issues are only exposed to community radio. A national level radio station will fail to speak on small but important issues.”
Speaking to ANI, another radio jockey, Taranam, said that this community radio platform helped recognize his talent. “These community radio stations are designed to empower the youth, and thus my talent is also recognized on this platform. We understand many technologies such as how a radio station works and what is behind the curtain.”
Speaking further, he thanked the Indian Army for this initiative. “Many youth are bent towards drugs; however, such an initiative will help bring local youth to a better track.”
Adil Rasool, a video content editor of Kangan Community Radio, said, “This is a big initiative by the Indian Army and the government, which gives opportunities to many youths like me. We make materials about tourism, communities, students and more. Youth are now accustomed to digital world, but now they have the opportunity to get out of this addiction.”
Speaking to ANI, a local resident, Manzoor Ahmed, mentioned that almost all types of information will now be accessible from local radio stations. “Due to this great initiative, we can easily get information. Our issues and problems will be heard through this radio community.” (AI)
