Srinagar, July 06, KDC: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal today addressed the Conclave – 2025 of the traders organized by the Trade and Industry Federation of India (FTII) in Skicc Srinagar. The Conclave celebrated the significant contribution of traders, entrepreneurs and business leaders in strengthening the economic scenario of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation.

The event was attended by Sunil Sinhi, Chairman of National Business Welfare Board; And Mr. Satish Sharma, Cabinet Minister, Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

Prior to the Conclave, Piyush Goyal held significant conversations with representatives of the MSME Development Forum and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Discussions focus on local business challenges and policy solutions, including GST on handicrafts, promoting horticulture-based price chains, and packaging and R&D infrastructure.

In his address, Goyal gave the first Commerce Minister of India, Dr. Saima Prasad began by remembering Mukarji, and paid tribute to the democratic spirit reflected in the recently concluded general elections. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the love and warmth received from the people of Kashmir, taking into account the spiritual significance of the holy month of Muharram and the cultural harmony reflected in the Ekadashi festival across India.

Speaking on the subject of the Conclave, Goyal said, “It is not just a slogan for the local. It is a guide to India’s rise as a manufacturing power and a reliable business partner. From local shopkeepers to our global exporters, everyone has a role in building a Vikasit Bharat.”

He shared that during his earlier meetings, the delegation raised concerns about GST on handicrafts and need to integrate packaging technologies with handloom, handicrafts and gardening. The minister assured that he would take up the matter with the Indian Packaging Institute, and would rapidly track the establishment of a regional center in Kashmir.

On the suggestion to set up a center of excellence for startups and innovation, Goyal offered support through a public-private partnership model, and encouraged cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture to enable research and development in agriculture.

He positively responded to the idea of ​​setting up a solar power project in Lasipora Industrial Estate, highlighting his ability to adopt green-certified production and clean energy.

Addressing concerns from apple producers, Mr. Goyal acknowledged the importance of demanding demand and production to ensure remunerative prices for local producers. He assured that the government would investigate the matter in consultation with stakeholders in Delhi.

Highlighting the global recognition of Kashmir’s craft heritage, the minister said, “Wherever we go, there is a growing ideal for gifts for gifts in India.

Condemning the recent terrorist attack in Pahgam, Mr. Goyal said that unity shown by Kashmiris later sent a powerful message to the world. He reiterated that peace, security and solidarity are the foundations of progress, and tourism will be one of the greatest strength in the region.

He praised the introduction of Vande Bharat Express in Kashmir and the completion of strategic infrastructure such as Chenb and Fix Bridges, Peer Gully Tunnel and USBRL Railway Corridor, called them Game-Chalsers for regional connectivity and commerce.

Asked for constant tourism promotion, the minister said that cultural programs, Yatras, and Confink, like today, should be regularly organized to see the peace and progress of Kashmir to invite the nation and the world. He also appreciated the growing network of homestay in Kashmir, providing employment to visitors by providing a great cultural experience.

He emphasized that India is now a reliable global trading partner, which is valuable for its honesty, efficiency and product quality. The minister underlined the government’s commitment to enable new exporters, discover new markets and expand the global footprint of Indian products, especially with low shelf life and high value.
