Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday urged the Center to arrange additional Haj flights from Srinagar to clean the backlogs of pilgrims due to the closure of airports during the military deadlock between India and Pakistan.
The Chief Minister said in a post on X, “I recently needed an immediate requirement to arrange additional Haj flights from Srinagar to clean the backlog of 1,895 pilgrims due to flying disruptions with the Government of India.”
Abdullah said that it was the government’s priority to ensure a smooth and timely pilgrimage for Haj pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir.
Thirty -two airports including Srinagar were closed from 9 May due to military deadlock between India and Pakistan.
The flight operations resumed on 13 May. (KDC)
