External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday held a telephonic conversation with UK Foreign Secretary David Lamy and discussed a cross -border terror attack in Pahgam.
Eam Jaishankar wrote on X, “Talked to UK Foreign Secretary David Lummi today. Discussed the terrorist attack across the border in Pahgam. Underlined the importance of zero tolerance for terrorism.”
On 22 April, the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir targeted tourists, killing 26 people, including a Nepali National. The victims were closed near Besaran Meadow, a popular tourist destination in the region. The attack is one of the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack, resulting in the death of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawans.
As the world condemned the attack, the Davudi Bohra community in Queens, New York, gathered on Sunday to pay a heartfelt tribute to the innocent victims of the Pahgam terror attack.
In a post on X, the community said, “The Davudi Bohra community condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. This tragic incident has taken the lives of innocent people, causing heartbreak to the families. To honor the victims in solidarity and respect their memory, members of our community accepted a moment of silence around the world.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Canadian Toronto of diverse communities gathered to staging a large -scale candle light and held a rally condemning the killing of Hindus in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir in a terrorist attack.
The Hindu Forum, Canada, Kohna, and many other Hindu organizations, brought together more than 500 Hindus, Jews, Baloch, Iranians and other Canadians who chanting “Pakistan Murdabad” through the streets of Toronto and officially nominated the Canadian government as a terrorist state through the roads of Toronto.
Nepali MPs also strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, calling for integrated action against terrorism.
A total of four Nepali MPs who addressed the meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday also expressed condolences to the families.
“On April 22, there was a terrorist attack in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India, claiming the lives of 26 people, including Sudeep Nupen from Butwal (Nepal), while some others were seriously injured. I condemn this terrorist attack. The whole world should unite and fight against it,” Anita Devi Shah said, said a former minister and a member of the opposition party. (AI)
