Trump says that it will reach the tariff deal with the European Union as a visit to Meloni in Italy.

Arun Jain, 18/04/2025

Washington:

US President Donald Trump said he would reach a tariff deal with the “100 percent” European Union as Italian Prime Minister Giorgia led a attraction at the White House on Thursday.

Trump praised the “luxurious” far-flung leader, since he visited the first Republican from Europe, he slapped 20 percent tariffs on the export of the European Union, which he has suspended for 90 days.

Castinging himself as the only European that can increase Trump’s trade war with Europe, Meloni highlighted his conservative common ground with Trump.

“The goal for me is to make West Great again, and I think we can do it together,” he told reporters in the Oval office, exposed shared ideas on immigration and “Vok ideology”.

Meloni said that Trump had accepted an invitation to visit Rome in the “near future” and he could also meet European leaders there.

The two leaders talked about the possibility of a deal, one of the series that Trump says he would expel from major trading partners on his world-wandering tariffs.

“There will be a trade deal, 100 percent,” Trump said during a first working lunch with Meloni, who said that he was “certainly”, they could reach an agreement.

But in the indication of further possible challenges, Trump said he was in “No Rush” and Meloni did not change his mind on his overall tariff policy.

“Everyone wants to make a deal – and if they don’t want to make a deal, we will deal for them,” said Trump.

Meloni was the only European leader to be invited for Trump’s inauguration of January 20, and US authorities stated that he was “eye -up with the President on many issues such as immigration and Ukraine.”

Trump said that Europe was needed to “intelligent” on immigration, there were frequent attacks on their administration on the subject.

– ‘I am aware of what I am defending’ –

The war of Russia in Ukraine, however, remained a poignant subject.

Meloni has been a staunch associate of Ukraine and President Volodimir Zelansky since the invasion of Russia’s country in 2022, recently Moscow’s Palm Sunday attack is called “terrible and wile” on Sumi city.

Trump, however, has shocked colleagues with a axis towards Moscow and has repeatedly attacked Zelancesi, which he had placed in an oval office meeting in February.

The US leader said with Meloni next to him that “I do not blame Zelansky, but I am not thrilled with the fact that the war began,” saying that he was not a “big fan of Ukrainian”.

Meloni had earlier accepted the weight of uncertainty on his journey as Europe had seen reels from frequent explosions from a country that had been the protector of the continent for decades.

“Surely, I am aware of what I represent and I know what I am defending,” Meloni said on Tuesday.

Italian newspapers reported that one of the goals of Meloni’s visit was to pave the way for the meeting between Trump and the head of the European Union Ursula von Der Leyen.

Meloni’s decision to intervene personally intervene with Trump has created some rejection among the European Union colleagues, which are concerned that their travel can reduce block unity.

“If we start bilateral discussion, it would evidently break the current dynamic,” the French Industry Minister Mark Ferrys warned last week.

A European Commission spokesman said that while the European Union could interact on trade agreements alone, Meloni was “welcome outreach” and was coordinated with Brussels.

After Thursday’s meeting with Trump, Meloni will fly back to Rome on Friday to host US Vice President JD Vance, with which he plans to a meeting.

Trump’s danger tariff may have a major impact on the world’s fourth largest exporter, which sends about 10 percent of its exports to the United States.
