2 Myanmar citizens arrested in Mizoram for carrying drugs worth Rs 1,065 crore

Aizawl:

Two Myanmar nationals, including a woman, were arrested in eastern Mizoram’s Champhai district for possessing 1.5 kg of heroin worth Rs 106.5 crore, the Assam Rifles said on Friday.

The operation was carried out jointly with Mizoram police in Hnahlan village, the statement said.

Contraband was sealed in 110 soap boxes.

The defendants are said to be from Tahai and Phinak counties in Chin State, Myanmar.

In another operation on Wednesday, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police seized 50.8 grams of heroin worth Rs 3.56 crore in Aizawl, the statement added.
