AAP minister Atishi writes to senior officials over water shortage in parts of city

New Delhi:

Delhi Water Minister Atish has written to the chief secretary pointing out the water shortage in parts of south Delhi while asking him to increase the number of water tankers to the same number as last summer.

She also directed the chief secretary to ensure urgent completion of drilling and commissioning of acquired tubewells within a week.

Atishi said, “I have received complaints about acute water shortage in Aya Nagar, Bapu Camp, Sambhav Camp, Maidan Gadhi, Kharak Revada, Mandi, Asola Band Road, Sanjay Colony, Bhati Mines, Indira Enclave, Freedom Fighter Colony and Jonapur Colony. “explain.

“With the early onset of summer in Delhi, this problem has become more serious. If this problem is not solved immediately, there will be a crisis of similar situations in the region,” she added.

In the newsletter, Atishi noted that the number of water tankers serving these areas compared to last summer does not address the region’s waste crisis.

“Not only that, many drillings and re-drilling have been approved but the work has not been completed. It almost seems to be a deliberate attempt to create a water crisis,” she charged.

Atish said that as summer approaches, it is important to ensure that immediate steps are taken to address Delhi’s water shortage problem.

“There is no mention in the Model Code of Conduct that essential work cannot be carried out during the election period. The MCC cannot be an excuse for senior officials of the GNCTD to deprive citizens of their basic rights,” she said.

Atishi said the chief secretary “has been directed to ensure that 5MGD treated water allocated to Chhatarpur UGR reaches there regularly”.
