Three operatives of gangster Goldy Brar have been arrested in a joint operation by Punjab police and central agencies, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Sunday.
The arrested persons were identified as Amritpal Singh alias Gujjar of Bhanur Kalori, Kamalpreet Singh of Bhanur Devi Nagar Abrava and Prem Singh of Dera Bashi Amralala.
All the accused are facing multiple criminal cases related to murder, extortion, attempt to robbery under the Punjab Arms Act.
They were also allegedly involved in a shooting incident at the house of a businessman in Chandigarh’s Sector 5 on January 19.
Deputy Commissioner Yadav said that on the input of the anti-gangster task force, a police team in conjunction with the Chandigarh police tracked them on their way to Uttar Pradesh from Bihar and with the assistance of the local police, they stopped at the Gorakhpur train The station captured them.
He said that based on preliminary investigation, the accused Amritpal Singh and Kamalpreet Singh opened fire at a residential area in Chandigarh’s Sector 5 while the third accused Prem Singh helped them escape from the crime by providing his car and hiding them in his house. on site. house.
“Later, on the instructions of Goldie Brar, the trio fled to Bihar on January 27 and took shelter at Gurdwara Patna Sahib for two days before moving to Goldie Brar’s residence in Bihar. The hideout was provided at Chhitauli village in Harpur,” the DGP said, adding that on the morning of February 4, they left the hideout and were preparing to shift to a new location.
