An 88-year-old man riding an electric scooter has died after a collision with two cars in Renfrewshire.

The crash involved a red Volkswagen Golf and a red Vauxhall Astra, which happened in Paisley at around 8pm on Monday.

police Scotland Said pensioner was taken to Glasgow Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

There have been no reports of any other injuries.

Sergeant Robert McKee said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who passed away at a very difficult time.”

The accident occurred on Shabu Street at the junction with Xiushui Street. The road was closed for approximately seven hours while investigative work took place.

Sgt McKee added: “Our investigation is ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the crash or who may have information that could help us get in touch.

“I’m also keen to speak to anyone who has dash cam footage which could help us.”
