Kolkata Knight Riders successfully defended their title by edging out Royal Challengers Bangalore by one run in the IPL 2024 final on Sunday. Things looked grim for RCB under pressure after Andre Russell dismissed the in-form Dinesh Karthik off the last ball of the 19th over . However, Karn Sharma hit three sixes against Mitchell Starc, whom KKR bought for Rs 24.75 crore, to bring them back into the game. But it was not to be a dramatic end as Starc dismissed Karn in the penultimate handover of the over to give KKR the advantage. RCB needed 3 runs to win off the last ball of the match but Lockie Ferguson was run out before taking the second over and RCB lost narrowly.

19.1 – Starc’s first ball was pitched completely outside off stump and Karn Sharma came back to the crease and banged the ball to backward point for a big six.

19.3 – Karn Sharma added another six to his name as he read Starc’s lines perfectly and bowled hard at deep extra cover to create the over The second maximum value.

19.4 – Needing 9 runs off 3 balls, Karn Sharma did it again. Another delivery outside off stump, this time the ball flew deep behind for the third six.

19.5 –Mitchell Starc batted for KKR and Karn Sharma played straight back to the bowler and the Australia international took an impressive low catch to provide the team with A crucial breakthrough.

19.6 – Three runs were needed from the last ball and as soon as Rocky Ferguson and Mohammad Siraj got the ball, they started running towards deeper extra cover. Ramandeep Singh quickly picked up the ball and although the delivery was not very good, Phil Salt jumped on the stumps to break the ball. Replays made it clear that Ferguson was nowhere near the crease and KKR registered a thrilling win.
