State and local governments have ordered an investigation into the incident.

Kota:

Police have filed a manslaughter case against three organizers of a Mahashivratri march in which 16 children and two others suffered burns due to electrocution, officials said on Saturday.

Police said a report has been sought from the Electricity Distribution Board on the standards of high-voltage wires that led to electrocution to decide the future course of action in the matter.

Another victim, a 12-year-old girl, was admitted to a burn unit on Saturday with burns covering 5-10 percent of her body, officials said.

Superintendent Dr Dharmraj Meena said while one child has been discharged from MBS Hospital, the rest are undergoing treatment at the burns ward.

Meena said the condition of the five children with severe burn injuries at Jaipur’s SMS Hospital was said to be stable.

Two of the 13 patients are receiving inotropic support and the remaining patients are in generally stable condition, according to a report released late Saturday by the head of the department.

The patients are under ongoing supervision by general surgeons, pediatricians, plastic surgeons and other specialists, the statement said.

One of the children, a 7-year-old, received Dobuta support on Friday and was receiving oxygen support, but now he is doing fine without oxygen support, Meena said.

Children aged 10 to 16 were electrocuted when a high-voltage electric wire passed overhead in Kota’s Sakatpura area on Friday. Five seriously injured children were admitted to SMS Hospital in Jaipur for treatment, while the remaining children were admitted to MBS Hospital in Kota.

State and local governments have ordered an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the police filed charges of manslaughter and endangering life against three organizers of ‘Shiv Barat’ under sections 308, 338 and 34 of IPC based on a complaint by the father of a seriously injured child.

SHO Arvind Bhardwaj of Kunhari police station said the organizers were identified as Badrilal, Babulal and Gopal of Sakatpura district. “We have also sought a report from the power company on the condition of high-voltage power lines to decide the future course of action in the matter,” Bhardwaj said.

In “Shiv Barat” a boy was electrocuted when a 22-foot-long flagpole he was holding came into contact with a 132 KV high-voltage power line overhead.
