In a shocking incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district, a 15-year-old girl was gang-raped at gunpoint by three men in front of her parents. The incident took place in Banwalpur area on Monday night, however, a complaint was lodged two days later on Wednesday.
One of the three suspects has been detained by police, Philippine Press Trust Deputy Chief of Police Rishikesh Meena said, citing the Press Trust of India (PTI).
“An incident took place on Monday night in a village under the jurisdiction of Banwalpur police station in the district where a minor girl and her family members were gang-raped and her parents were also beaten,” another senior police officer said.
The girl’s family moved to the area just a month ago.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s parents, the police registered a case against the three accused under sections 323, 376, 376d, 458, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses). Crimes) Act.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
In a similar incident, a 10-year-old girl living in an orphanage was allegedly raped in Cuttack, Odisha, on her way home from school, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place on Monday afternoon in the College Place area near Cuttack railway station.
She is currently undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Railway SP Biranchi Prasad Dehury Hospital. After her mother died and her father was imprisoned, she lived in an orphanage.
