12-year-old boy in US sent to hospital after drinking at restaurant

A 12-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being mistakenly served alcohol at a restaurant in Michigan.according to fox businessThe incident occurred at an Outback Steakhouse in Livonia, Michigan earlier this month. The boy, Mekyle Cureton, was with his family and ordered his usual virgin daiquiri as a drink. However, after a few sips, he said his drink “didn’t taste normal” and his heart began to beat while drinking.

It turns out there was a mix-up and the drink contained rum. After a few sips, the 12-year-old started to feel the effects. “When I left, my head started hurting and when I drank it, my heart started beating,” he told the outlet.

The boy’s grandmother tasted a drink to try to determine if it contained alcohol, but she couldn’t tell. Since no one in the house was drinking, they signaled the waiter and the bartender confirmed the mistake. According to the family, their order also showed a regular daiquiri was ordered, not the “original” drink.

After the incident, the restaurant apologized and did not charge the family for their meal. The boy, on the other hand, ended up in the hospital. He was diagnosed with accidental exposure to alcohol and accidental ingestion of alcohol, the report said. He was given Tylenol and told to rest, according to media reports. The next day, he suffered his first hangover.

“We take this situation very seriously and are thankful that the child involved was not seriously injured,” the restaurant told the outlet.

The spokesman added: “Appropriate disciplinary action has been taken and all our bartenders and staff have been retrained to ensure this does not happen again.”
