A 23-year-old Youtuber has been arrested for allegedly entering Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport to record a video and then lied about spending the whole day there, police said today.

Vikas Gowda, a resident of Yelahanka, Bengaluru, entered the airport around 12 noon on April 7 with a ticket for an Air India flight to Chennai, they said.

Police said he did not “intentionally” board the plane but was hanging out at the airport and recording videos on his phone.

He uploaded the alleged video on April 12 to his YouTube channel, which has nearly 113,000 subscribers, falsely claiming he had been at the airport all day and venturing into many areas of the airport to deceive security.

The alleged video was later deleted by him.

“He entered the airport, passed the security check at Kempegowda International Airport Terminal 2, and then went to the boarding lounge. But instead of boarding the plane, he wandered around the airport and stayed at the airport for nearly six hours. said a senior police officer.

After recording the video, he left the airport and claimed to security guards that he had missed his flight. He said security personnel did not suspect him because he had a valid ticket and boarding pass.

He added that initial investigations suggested he did it for publicity and that his claims in the alleged video were exaggerated.

On April 15, airport security personnel took notice of the matter and registered a case against Mr. Gowda under Sections 505 (statement causing mischief to public) and 448 (dwelling trespass) based on a complaint by a Central Industrial Security Force official. ) under the Indian Penal Code, he was arrested, the official said.

Mr. Gowda was later released on bail, police said.
