As of January this year, the number of Google-owned YouTube Music and paid subscribers (including trial versions) has exceeded 100 million.

“We’re grateful for the support of our subscribers,” said Adam Smith, YouTube’s vice president of product, as it has grown from a small beginning to a community of 100 million in more than 100 countries.

“We remain committed to delivering a best-in-class experience to our global YouTube community,” he said in a blog post.

Last year, YouTube enhanced the Premium playback experience, including adding the ability to continue watching YouTube on different devices such as smart TVs and tablets, and launching a 1080p HD enhanced version.

“We’re also experimenting with new generative AI capabilities, with power users being the first to try them,” Smith said.

For listeners, the platform introduces the Samples tab, a quick way to discover new music, a fully customizable radio-building experience, and brings podcasting to YouTube Music.

T-Series President Neeraj Kalyan said that the milestone of surpassing 100 million YouTube Premium and Music subscribers is indeed a great milestone moment for the music industry.

“We continue to invest in our strong partnership with Google, which will help grow the subscription business, enhance fan experience and contribute to the overall growth of the Indian music ecosystem,” said Kalyan.
