Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg says India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will have to change his game when he plays in Australia’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year and will struggle with speed and Bounce and come up with new hitting ranges. Jaiswal was a standout player for the Indian team in the recently concluded home series against England. In five games and nine innings, Jaiswal scored 712 runs at an average of 89.00, including two double centuries and three fifties. His best score is 214*. As India heads to Australia for a Test series at the end of the year, Jaiswal will be one of the batsmen to watch out for. It will be interesting to see how he fares against the pacey trio of skipper Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc.

Hogg said on his YouTube channel that Jaiswal will encounter a lot of pace and bounce on Australian surfaces and will have to come up with new batting ranges accordingly. The former Australia spinner added that he has to use speed when hooking and pulling the ball rather than just trying to hit it hard.

“Jaswal has bowled really well. Now, when he comes here (Australia), he will have to change the way he plays. Maybe use the rhythm when it comes to hooks and pulls instead of hitting the ball hard. If he wants to be more aggressive, he needs to have a new range because of the speed and bounce on the ball,” Hogg said.

Hogg also talked about another youngster, Sarfaraz Khan, who finally made his debut in the series after years of success in domestic cricket for Mumbai. The youngster had an outstanding series, scoring 200 runs in five innings, averaging 50, including three 50-run innings.

Hogg said he was worried about Sarfaraz’s performance against fast bowling, but some of his shots against the pacers showed he was working on improving that aspect of his game. The former Australian said Sarfaraz is almost ready to take on the mighty Australian on his own soil.

“Sarfaraz Khan, I was concerned about his performance against fast bowling. But some of the pulls he bowled with sheer pace, I can say he has been working hard to improve his game. I think he is ready It’s good to compete with the Australian opponents.” In Australia, he played some pull-ball rhythm attacks. “
