An amazing individual performance by xavi simmons first inspired tottenham Premier League First home win since August with a much-needed 2-0 win brentford,

the pressure had started to increase Thomas Frank After a string of poor home performances and three defeats in four matches, he missed a visit to his old club. Javi To great effect.

It took just 25 minutes for

Frank hugged Brentford boss Keith Andrews and several members of the visitors’ backroom staff before kick-off, but it soon got down to business, with Xavi making his first start since 8 November.

Xavi’s recent exclusion has left fans stunned and he was in action in the opening exchanges as Tottenham attempted to make a strong start after a poor start against Fulham.

Micky van de Veen sent a header home after seven minutes, Richarlison’s effort was blocked by Nathan Collins soon after and a strike from Xavi indicated Spurs’ superior intent at home.

Brentford offered little until the midpoint of the half, but in-form Igor Thiago gave a warning sign when his snapshot forced Guglielmo Vicario into a good save.

An encouraging start for Tottenham had still not produced a single shot on target but the situation changed in the 25th minute.

Following a positive run from Xavi, Pedro Porro played his part with a wonderful ball over the top, having the presence of mind to pick out Richarlison at the back post and slam home.

It was Spurs’ first shot on target in the first half of a Premier League game in five weeks, and was just the reward.

Xavi soon demonstrated his newfound confidence with an ambitious volley wide of the target, before Caoimhin Kelleher headed home a Poro corner from Randall Kolo Muani from close range.

Tottenham were not content to sit on a one-goal lead and a spell from Xavi led to a second goal after 43 minutes.

The Netherlands attacker initially lost possession to Mikael Damsgaard, but quickly won it back from Sepp van den Bergh and advanced from the halfway line to beat Yehor Yermoliuk before drilling into the bottom corner to open his account for Spurs.

It was an amazing solo effort and Xavi marked it with his trademark phone call celebration on top of an advertising hoarding.

Spurs should have made it 3–0 early in the second half, but Kelleher saved from Jade Spence after bursting clear into the area.

Mohamed Qudus flew forward and Xavi was able to fire straight at the Brentford goalkeeper after a poor clearance.

However, Tottenham’s skilful winger Kudus found out with 19 minutes remaining when his showboating gifted a through throw to the visitors and Romero slid in to deny Thiago before the home captain leveled his teammate, but it did not matter as France’s men eventually won again at home.
